i figured i’d put them to good use in these dog treats for butters and ollie – that is, after jason voiced his concerns that i should save the leftover bacon for his breakfast needs rather than serving them up to the dogs. i should also mention that butters and ollie not only enjoyed these but they both felt the need to eat these under the couch in complete darkness and privacy. hi i like your recipe with one exception (the oats) as a canine socializer and worked in a shelter or dog rescue as well as worked in the clinic i know some breeds suffer bloating and to much oats can bother them. our dogs love these only thing i do different is placing them back in the oven ince cooled down to 170 deg for 3 to for hours as mould would grow on them quickly is covered. these should keep for at least a few days (i like to store these in the fridge or freezer to extend shelf life) but methods for optimal food storage and shelf life should be based on good judgment and what you are personally comfortable with. i just made these as a for coco! i’ve made several of your terrific recipes, but am just now finding these dog treats! any kind of special attention or affection means the world to them and these treats absolutely put them over the moon! thank you so much for helping me show them that they’re loved and that not all humans are cruel.
i had them in a zip lock bag but some look like there is white flour on them. thank you they will last for a few days at room temperature in an airtight container but they can also be placed in the fridge or freezer to extend shelf life. i just wanted to add, i love that you have dog food on your site! i live in mexico, is there anything i can substitute for the pumpkin puree or do you have a recipe so that i can make my own? also, i am a boxer person, and work with boxer rescue, and i can tell you your dog treats are paw licken good !! they can also be stored in the refrigerator to prolong shelf life. i get your dog eating them under the couch. i am sure my 2 corgis would devour these (they love your other treat recipe with pumpkin puree and peanut butter)…i just want to make sure i have a correct recipe. as for the bacon fat, a specific amount is not listed. most definitely going to make these treats for the “grand dog” even though my grandson will probably get into them.
a 115lb rescue rottweiler/german shepherd from a small town in colorado. his previous owners left him and his sister to die in a deserted house. then i run around from my computer, to the kitchen, to the camera, and back again all day. staring at me with his big brown eyes and never able to taste a single treat. a homemade treat with his very favorite ingredients. he gets it from his mom. the size of the treats should be based on the size of your dog. jude is the size of a bear, so the big treats are perfect. the dog treats won’t spread in the oven, they just puff up very slightly. the treats can be close together on your baking sheet. remove from the oven and flip.
allow the treats to cool completely before sharing with your furry bud. jude was going nuts from the way our apartment smelled. if you have any questions or concerns about the ingredients i used, please consult with your vet. if you have any questions or concerns about the ingredients used, please consult with your veterinarian. i was just wondering what the texture of the treat should feel like when it’s done. my dog is older and he has a little trouble eating hard treats so i was just wondering. :)) my dog loooovvvveeesss these treats! she’s literally stalking me! she can’t sit still, and she’s even doing all her tricks without being asked! i made my daughter pb fudge and she can’t eat it without rubee begging! her kitchen-tested recipes and thorough step-by-step tutorials give readers the knowledge and confidence to bake from scratch.
